American Ultraviolet designs and manufacturers many effective custom and standard germicidal fixtures for the food and beverage industry, including an entire series of fixtures, including the LTC, designed to keep liquid sugar tanks, often called liquid storage tanks, safe. Of course this is essential if any part of your operation involves storing sweeteners like High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), or water, to be used as ingredients in your products.
Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) is the process of generating free radicals (in our case, hydroxyl radicals OH molecules) by exposing a catalyst to an energy source. This process is extremely effective in destroying airborne contaminants like VOCs, bacteria, viruses, and other common pathogens. PCO can also be used for the reduction of smoke, odors and ethylene gas in food production and food storage applications.
American Ultraviolet is partnering with Fresh Plus International to provide the fresh produce industry produce-centric solutions, including the EC-60, designed to improve food safety and maintain post-harvest quality of fresh produce.
American Ultraviolet also offers several standard and custom UV solutions for food processing applications, including: GRMT Series that can be mounted on walls, ceilings, over conveyors, or in moist areas where surface disinfection is needed; CE Series fixtures that can be placed over and under conveyor lines to reduce any mold or bacteria from food, films, or container surfaces, prior to packaging; In-Duct DC series fixtures that can be installed in the HVAC system, or supply ducts, to reduce or eliminate mold and bio-film build-up on the cooling coil, and in the air flowing through the system; TB and Ram Series fixtures can be mounted in gowning, packaging, and processing areas to eliminate or lower the levels of airborne microorganisms in the space; ICR Series racks that can be used as an air disinfection solution or a "panel" style UV source for surface disinfection of product, conveyor belts, containers, sealing films, and more; and the CK Series fixtures, which feature a modular design that allows the end user the ability to supply a single, or multiple UV lamps, in various sizes with a power supply tailored to the lamp configuration.
If the application calls for a custom solution, our engineering department will design a system specifically for your facility, or production line, with a UV dose targeted to achieve a significant reduction of pathogens. Destroying mold and bacteria on the product, and from packaging material, has been shown to dramatically increase the shelf life of certain products.
With respect to the food and beverage industry, American Ultraviolet also designs and manufactures Kitchen Exhaust (KE) hood germicidal fixtures, which reduce odor emissions and grease deposits commonly associated with kitchen exhaust hoods. They also contribute to a safer kitchen environment by lessening the dangers of grease fires. KE Series fixtures are ideal solutions in diners, restaurants, fast food restaurants, and commercial kitchens (including those in hotels, casinos, convention centers, resorts, etc.); industrial kitchens that produce fish and meat meals; and other environments where grease and oil are used to
bake or fry.

Prolonged, direct exposure to UVC light can cause temporary skin redness and eye irritation, but does not cause skin cancer or cataracts. American Ultraviolet systems are designed with safety in mind and, when properly installed by a professional contractor, do not allow exposure to UV irradiation and allow for safe operation and maintenance.
