UVC
INTENSITY SENSOR WITH PANEL MOUNT MONITOR
Typically, germicidal lamps have an expected life rating
of about 9,000 hours. After the expected lifespan, the lamp
may continue to burn, but its intensity is substantially reduced.
Other factors, such as dust, may rob the lamp of its expected
output as well. In both cases, airborne and surface-dwelling
microorganisms are treated ineffectively.
Indicator pilot lights show that the lamp is lit but do not
indicate the effectiveness of lamp output. The only reliable
output monitoring device is an intensity sensor. American
Ultraviolet Company’s calibrated and long-term-stable
UVC sensors are a reliable and cost-effective way to monitor
UVC radiation levels throughout the system.
The senor is mounted in the airstream to monitor individual
lamps or banks of lamps, measuring only the 254 nm wavelength.
It supplies a current or voltage signal proportional to the
amount of UVC sensed to the display meter. The panel mount
display monitor shown here has green (70-100% output), yellow
(50-70% output) and red (below 50% output) indicator lights
for intensity display. Other monitor displays are available.
