Disinfection Update - July 2020

What's Next as we Open Back Up

What's Next? Here's what our healthcare partners have been doing to get ready to reopen their businesses during the COVID19 pandemic.

During these challenging times patient and staff safety have been of the utmost concern for all healthcare practices. Many practices have been closed for weeks, if not months, and are now beginning to slowly open back up under the various phases as set by local government. Much thought has been spent on how to provide additional ways to provide a cleaner environment for patients and staff during re-opening.

American Ultraviolet offers many solutions for a safer environment by providing the most comprehensive UVC disinfection line Made in America.

Thus far, unfortunately, no UVC COVID-19 inactivation constants, which are needed to determine exact UVC dosage required to inactivate COVID-19, have been established. Fortunately, research is taking place, studies have been submitted for peer review, and, hopefully, this data will be available very soon. In the meantime, American Ultraviolet continues to refer to known inactivation constants from studied coronaviruses, as published in March 2020 by the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA).

Many private practices, and hospitals, have integrated American Ultraviolet UVC disinfection products into their patient safety initiatives. Every patient care area is generally outfitted with, and / or is treated with, cleansing UVC germicidal disinfection that is safe for patients and staff. UVC disinfection technology has been well proven to reduce potentially harmful microorganisms from the environment, and American Ultraviolet, with more than 60 years of experience in UVC, is confident that this technology, in conjunction with our approach toward custom design, will continue to help protect patients and staff.

The June 2020 Disinfection Update E-Newsletter Product Spotlight focused on the upper air UVC disinfection product line. Proper design and layout of areas to be disinfected are critical components designed to maximize the disinfection properties of UVC. Following are several images of upper air UVC fixtures that show how some of our healthcare partners have been installing them in their private practices in order to help them to get ready to re-open.

In addition to properly using upper air UVC fixtures in their practices, some healthcare partners have also been installing our HVAC fixtures into their duct system for additional air disinfection. Stay tuned for our lineup of HVAC fixtures, which will be featured in the August UVC Disinfection Update E-Newsletter.
